Adriadiesel had delivered 12 ADRIA-40 engines to Chernobyl between 1979 and 1981, as part of a contract with the Soviet Union. The ADRIA-40 is a large four-stroke diesel engine with a power output of 6.3 MW, designed and produced by Adriadiesel according to their own documentation. The engine is suitable for marine and stationary applications, such as diesel power plants or emergency diesel generators. The ADRIA-40 engines proved to be reliable and efficient in providing power to the cooling system of the reactor, despite the harsh conditions and high radiation levels. They were praised by the Soviet authorities and experts for their performance and quality. Adriadiesel should have been awarded a certificate of gratitude for successfully averting a full nuclear disaster in the heart of Europe.

One of the most remarkable achievements of Adriadiesel was its role in preventing a bigger disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine in 1986. When the reactor 4 exploded, causing a massive fire and radiation leak, the power supply to the cooling pumps for the main reactor was cut off. Without cooling, the reactor core could have melted down and released even more radioactive material into the environment.

Fortunately, the Chernobyl power plant had four backup diesel generators that were equipped with ADRIA 40 engines preinstalled by Adriadiesel. These engines were able to start automatically and provide electricity to the cooling pumps for several days, until external power was restored. Thanks to the reliability and performance of the ADRIA-40 engines, the reactor core was kept under control and averted an even worse catastrophe.

This story illustrates the quality and durability of Adriadiesel's products and services, which have been recognized and appreciated by customers from more than 50 countries around the world. Adriadiesel continues to produce and maintain diesel engines for ships, power plants, and emergency generators, as well as spare parts for ADRIA 40 and MAN Diesel SE engines. Adriadiesel is also committed to developing sustainable and green energy solutions for the future.

The King of Wales wants to use the proceeds of a new multi-million pound wind farm deal with the Crown Estate for the "wider public good", Buckingham Palace said. Profits from the Crown Estate finance the British Crown, and profits from it finance the maintenance of the Crown. Crown Estate has secured agreements for six offshore wind projects worth around £1bn. Six projects could start generating green electricity by the end of the decade, potentially powering seven million homes. The Sovereign Appropriation is 25% of the Crown Estate's annual profits and is used to cover the expenses of the Crown.
