Ohmium International and Amp Energy India have partnered to deploy a 400 MW green hydrogen project. These deployments are targeted at medium-sized commercial and industrial (C&I) projects of 25 MW or smaller, with installations planned over the next three years. Ohmium manufactures standardized modular proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers that produce pressurized high-purity hydrogen.
Vedanta has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for an additional 500 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy. The company previously secured 580 megawatts of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy through Serentica Renewables. Vedanta has committed $5 billion over the next 10 years to accelerate the transition to net-zero operations.
GE Renewable Energy announced on Wednesday that it will supply, install and commission onshore wind turbines for Continuum Green Energy's 218 MW wind project in Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh. The orders were placed by Continuum's subsidiaries Continuum MP Windfarm Development and Dalawaipuram Renewables.
Siemens Gamesa aims to resolve major issues with its flagship onshore wind turbine model within the next three months. The world's largest maker of offshore turbines has issued a series of profit warnings as it grapples with complex internal procedures. It warned that 10-15 loss-making projects related to problematic equipment would continue to be a drag into 2024.
Japan aims to increase its annual hydrogen supply, including imports, to 3 million tons by 2030, up from about 2 million tons currently. Hydrogen is seen as the green fuel of choice for the future and key to decarbonizing industries that depend on coal, gas and oil. This is also key to Japan's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurates the country's first offshore wind farm. The wind farm will be able to generate at least 500 megawatts of electricity, equivalent to "5% of what we're missing on our coldest days right now". France also plans to increase its solar power plants by 10 and build six new nuclear reactors by 2035.
Terra-Gen said it has completed the second phase of financing for its Edwards Sanborn solar storage facility in Kern County, California. The project phase includes 410 MWac of nameplate solar capacity (358 MWac at the interconnection point) and 1,786 MWh of battery storage. The company said it is moving forward with future phases that are expected to include more than 2,000 megawatts of incremental solar and energy storage.
Xcel Energy's Sherco Solar Project will be one of the largest solar facilities in the upper Midwest. The project aims to partially replace the energy production of Unit 2 of the Sherco Power Plant. The Sherburne County Power Station, also known as Sherco, has three units with a combined capacity of 2,238 megawatts. This is expected to help the region's economy as Xcel shuts down the first of its three coal-fired units.
Baltic Power is a joint venture between Poland's PKN Orlen and Canada's Northern Power. It has signed a series of agreements to help build a planned wind farm in the Baltic Sea. When completed in 2026, the Baltic Power offshore wind farm is expected to provide clean energy to more than 1.5 million households.
Amp Energy India has announced a joint venture (JV) with Websol Energy to manufacture and produce solar cells and modules. The two companies have signed a term sheet for the formation of a joint venture to produce monocrystalline PERC solar cells in two phases of 600 MW each at Websol's existing facility in Falta, West Bengal. Websol will hold 51% and Amp Energy will hold 49%. The project will be financed through a combination of debt and equity and will have an off-take agreement with Amp Energy India for up to 50% of production.
