MAN Diesel & Turbo has been ordered to deliver two 18V32/40 engines to drive a captive power plant at the Al-Watania Poultry chicken farm in Saudi Arabia. Engines will have a special design which will adapt as much as it can to the environment. The engines will run on crude oil as a main fuel and use Diesel Oil during startup. Alfred Kuhse controller from Germany is specialized in the control of technology and solutions, and has found excellent equipment for the engines. Located in the north of Saudi Arabia, in the Qassim district, not far off the capital Riad, Al Watania Poultry is the biggest chicken farm in the MENA region. It produces 575.000 chickens and one million table eggs per day. Sufficient electrical power is provided by 14 power plants with a combined capacity of 95.7 MW. The new MAN engines are part of the company’s plans to more than double the overall installed power generation capacity on site within the next five years.

The United States Department of Energy declared SimpleFuel the winner of one million USD in the H-Prize competition. The competition was launched in 2014, inviting the American innovators to make an on-site system for producing hydrogen that can be used in homes, community homes, small businesses, or similar locations. SimpleFuel's domestic-size device can charge a vehicle with one kilogram of hydrogen in 15 minutes, using hydrogen produced by electrolysis, with a cost-effective design that minimizes the "ecological footprint" of the device. SimpleFuel began as a collaboration between three major companies: Ivys Energy Solutions (Massachusetts), McPhy Energy N.A. (Massachusetts), and PDC Machines (Pennsylvania).
At the end of year 2014, the MAN Engines company delivered eight V 12 engines to the CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co. company . The company is also the first Chinese manufacturer of diesel railcars (DMUs), designed for the needs of a European railway company, which placed the DMU units in operation in the second quarter of 2016. MAN D2862 LE633 engines have an output of 588 kW (800 HP) at 1,800 rpm, and are in accordance with the current requirements of EU Stage IIIB emission standards, thanks to the SCR system for exhaust aftertreatment (selective catalytic reduction). Each traction unit is equipped with a motor located under the floor, in the Voith RailPack 600 DH system with a T212 gearbox, while the accompanying cooling system is mounted on the roof of the unit.

The engine, built by the Doosan company in Korea, according to MAN's specifications, has the capacity of 75,570 kW, i.e. 103,000 HP. In addition, the MSC Jade has four MAN L32/40 auxiliary engines installed, each of which is equipped with the MAN NR34/S turbocharger. The engine is the first in a series of six that have been ordered, with a trial run scheduled for June.
MAN Diesel & Turbo has recently completed a job worthy of attention; retrofitting a turbocharger on a North Sea ship within just 5 weeks from inquiry to completion. The Sjurdaberg ship was built in 1985 and has been successfully sailing northern seas for more than 30 years. it is equipped with a MAN 9L28/32A Alpha engine built in 1984 and a NA34/K turbocharger. Gottfried Eberle, the retrofitting project manager for MAN Diesel & Turbo, said: "During the installation, we replaced the original axial MAN NA34/K turbocharger with a modern, radial one of the MAN TCR20 type. The main advantages of the new turbocharger are its small size and efficiency, as well as a short response time in the event of a load change.“.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) will use MAN 28/33d STC engines as main propulsion in their new offshore patrol cutter programme. The programme is envisaged as a replacement for 13 vessels of the "Famous" class and 14 vessels of the "Reliance" class, which makes this order the biggest in the history of the United States Coast Guard. The MAN 28/33d STC engine offers compact power and stands out amongst other engines because of its high ratio of output to weight. All the engines are in full compliance with the applicable environmental protection standards and Tier 2 regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency. Maintenance costs and servicing downtime are low thanks to high engine availability.
