Govt mulls 233 GW new transmission capacity

The Ministry of Electricity said the government is considering about 233 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity across the country by 2030 at the latest. Transmission system planning to integrate an additional 52 GW of potential REZs (Renewable Energy Zones) by 2026-27 has been undertaken. Members of all political parties attended the meeting. Members were told that by December 2013, all five regional grids in India had been synchronized to the national grid, with the remote Leh region connected to the system in January 2019.
