Tanker Anchor Pierces Old Test Torpedo

A tanker anchor pierced an old unexploded device and dragged it all the way to Portland. Members of the Royal Navy were dispatched to evacuate the tanker's crewmembers and release the torpedo.

The torpedo was found in an extremely corroded state and it originates from the 1980s.

Tanker Crewmember Medevaced

A crewmember of the Panama-flagged tanker Bochem Oslo was transported for medical assistance. The 39-year-old crewman was suffering from strong chest pains. The ship was anchored ten nautical miles off the Port of Durban.

Bulker grounds in New Brunswick

On 11 October, the Transportation Safety Board bulker carrier SBI Carioca ran aground off the coast of New Brunswick. The vessel hit a shoal but there was no entrance of water into the carrier’s hull or water pollution. The SBI Carioca was sailing from Norfolk to Belledune.

Clipper Group Sells 16 Ships

The Clipper Group company decided on selling 16 vessels as part of a financial agreement. The sale included Clipper’s four multipurpose carriers which will remain under Clipper’s commercial and technical control.

The Clipper Group said that it wanted to simplify its business and close its offices in Stamford, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore and Beijing.
