Cargo ship sinks off Vietnam

The VTB 26 cargo ship, carrying 4,700 tons of coal and 13 crew members on board, capsized and sank in the Cua Lo anchorage. The strong waves which were hitting the hull of the ship were caused by a typhoon. According to the latest update, 7 people have been rescued, 3 have been found dead and 3 are still missing.

Rickmers Trust sells nine ships

The financially troubled Rickmers Trust Management will sell nine ships to the Navios company. The remaining 9 of 14 ships will be sold to Navios for USD 54 million. The sale of the first five container ships was completed in late May.

BW Group orders 8 tankers

Through its subsidiary, BW Pacific, BW Group has placed an order for up to eight long-range tankers. The company’s fleet includes 34 tankers, with LR1 newbuildings scheduled for delivery in 2017.
The Huayang Endeavour bulk carrier and the Seafrontier oil tanker collided in the Dover Strait in the early morning hours. The tanker was loaded with gasoline and had 27 people on board, while the carrier had 22 people on board. Both vessels were damaged, but there were no injuries or water ingress reported and no pollution.
