India has presented its long-term low-emissions development strategy at COP27, outlining plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. Leaders of India's clean energy transition met at EnergyScape to discuss the way forward. The conclave specifically promoted the use of electric vehicles, major climate investments and green hydrogen production.

India added 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of rooftop solar between January and September 2022, an 11% drop compared to the same period last year. The decline in installations was mainly due to rising solar module costs and uncertainty over the list of approved modules and manufacturers during the period.

The Saint-Nazaire wind farm is located 12 to 20 kilometers off the west coast of France. Consisting of 80 turbines, it will provide the equivalent of 400,000 homes with clean energy annually. The project is jointly owned by EDF Renewables and EIH Sarl, a subsidiary of Enbridge Inc.

The Energy Investment Program aims to help countries in the region identify and develop investable energy projects and transition to clean energy. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mines and Energy Zorana Mihajlović stated that investment in new energy capacity, efficient green energy transition and enhanced regional connectivity are the most important factors for Serbia to achieve energy security. The project will initially focus on increasing the potential for investment in improving energy and water utility operations and management.

SolarDuck has been selected as the exclusive supplier of Offshore Floating Solar ('OFS') technology with integrated energy storage in RWE's bid for the HKW VII offshore wind farm. The winning bid will enable the large-scale implementation of hybrid OFS power plants. Delivering the project will allow it to scale faster and reap the associated cost efficiencies, SolarDuck said.

Romania's state-owned Hidroelectrica has prepared a proposal to build the Islaz project for next month's shareholder meeting. The proposed dam would primarily be used for irrigation, fishing, flood control and road crossings. Conventional hydro plants will operate below the profitability threshold, so it is promoting them as pumped storage projects. Pumped hydro storage acts as a battery and remains the only traditional technology used for this purpose. They play a vital role in integrating renewable electricity production capacity, especially wind and solar.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on countries to take climate action instead of "pointing fingers" at the ongoing UN climate change conference. He made the remarks at a press conference at the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27). COP27 is scheduled to conclude in Sharm El Sheikh on Friday.

German industrial group Siemens reported a fall in its annual profit by about a third. The company, which makes products from trains to factory equipment, said it would post a net profit of about 4.4 billion euros ($4.6 billion) in the 2021-22 fiscal year. Siemens Energy was spun off from Siemens in 2020, and Siemens still owns 35 percent.

Siemens Energy said it would not pay a dividend for its annual results, blaming a widening net loss and its troubled wind turbine unit Siemens Gamesa. The company posted a net loss of 647 million euros ($669 million) for the year ended Sept. 30. The company also took a charge of 200 million euros due to the restructuring of its partially sold Russian unit.

Varanasi Bus Station is the first solar powered smart bus station with multiple facilities. Urban Development Minister AK Sharma said the prime minister had come up with the concept and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made sure it was followed. It was built by Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) under the Varanasi Smart City initiative under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
